The Brooklyn Cumbia Festival celebrates Cumbia music from its Afro-Indigenous origins in Colombia to its modern forms across Latin America, the U.S. and beyond. The festival takes place in community gardens, public parks, and iconic NYC venues with live bands, DJs, music workshops, dancing, food, drinks, and artisanal crafts.
Originally premiered at the Public Theater with a sold out run, and followed by encore performances at We Are Here, this immersive dinner party blends reality and absurdism into a fever dream of a night. A group of artists come together to confront the bureaucracy of making art over a ton of drinks, food, and tricks, while the audience comes along for the ride. Part variety show, part happening, part political satire. Can be performed anywhere, comes with food and drinks for the audience and a wild ride!
